Welcome to Company F of the 9th Texas Infantry! Company F, 9th Texas was formed in the mid 1980s and is one of the original founding units of the Red River Battalion. We are a like-minded group of progressive historical reenactors that strive to learn and experience more about the life of the common soldier in the American Civil War. We are strictly a military unit with no official affiliated civilian organization. Our membership is primarily located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth and Central Texas area, but our ranks are filled with men from all over Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and North Carolina.

Company F is dedicated to the accurate portrayal of a common infantry company during the war. Although it can vary based on the events we attend, our impression is that of mid-war Western Theater troops, both Confederate and Federal. Our primary impression is that of the 9th Texas Infantry, a Confederate volunteer infantry regiment formed of men from the North Texas area. Our secondary impression is that of the 165th NY, a hard fighting Federal zouave regiment. Whether in camp, on the march, in the field, or in battle, a period correct portrayal of the life of an American Civil War infantryman is our main goal.

Our organization participates in multiple national level reenactments every year across the Midwest, from Texas to Pennsylvania. Participation in the events being held over the next four years in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War is our primary focus. Additionally, Company F conducts monthly company level drill at several locations in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We place high emphasis on drill and feel that it is required to function as a historically accurate, efficient, and safe organization. Drills also affords a new recruit the perfect opportunity to learn more about Company F, as well as reenacting in general, and determine if this is the right hobby for them. We are more than happy to assist the recruit with loaner gear to help ease them into the hobby.

Company F is frequently invited to stage living history programs at many schools, historical parks, and national military parks; such as Vicksburg, Port Hudson, and Gettysburg. As historical reenactors, these opportunities allow us to not only help educate the public but to participate in activities on national battlefields where the events of the Civil War actually happened. Invitations from the National Park Service are a high honor and not received by many reenacting units.

We welcome and encourage you to join us at one our drills. Please check our website at www.9thTexas.org for times, locations, and more information. Should you wish to enlist and join us in the ranks of Company F, please contact our company recruiting coordinator Jeff Gibbs at tmutamc@aol.com. We look forward to seeing you in the ranks!
